Memories of Nick

Here we will post memories of the boy behind our efforts.   Son, Brother, and Friend, he was a fun, if not crazy, component to everyone's lives, and we hope that anyone with memories will post their thoughts on this page.  We will update this page periodically as we remember the good times and bad with Nicholas.

Nick's Favorite TV:
Nick loved the power rangers when he was around 5...then, of course, he move onto the Pokemon trend...all those Pokemon cards commandeered our home! I remember when Nick and I used to wake up early on Saturday mornings (before we had cable) and we would watch the few cartoons that we could.  Among his favorites were: Johnny Test, Pokemon, Digimon (spl?), Kirby, Winx (well...actually, he didn't like it, but he would still watch it with me...), Yu-Gi-Oh (oh the memories), The Replacements (heh, we were just like those two kids), Clifford the Big Red Dog, Cyber Chase, Zoom, and (surprisingly) Sabrina The Teenage Witch (the cartoon).  Finally, when we got cable, he found out that there was a load of cartoons that he never had heard of!  We were addicted to Fairly Odd Parents (oh Timmy how your antics inspired us...), Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory (our shared favorite : P ), My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Camp Lazlo, Kids Next Door, etc.

Nick's Favorite Games:
Anybody who knew Nick understood that nothing, not even raging tornadoes with flying cows and killer Minnesota snow, would stand between Nicholas and his video games.  Is it sad to say that we grew up playing "old time" video games...were we really born that long ago?!  Anyways, when we were younger, Nick's favorite was Spyro...we would play that game for hours on end (long story short: we had no memory card and thus the game could not save) and then we would curse the days we had to turn off the games.  Another favorite was Donkey Kong (Nintendo 64 style!), Crash Bandicoot, Namico Museum (Pole Position, DigDug, Galaxy *something or another*, etc.) Tetris (with the little guy that would get crushed by the rotating spikes!), and, when he was older, Star Wars Battlefront II. (When Star Wars entered the house, it was impossible for us to pry his fingers from the remote!)

Nick and Books:
Nick loved books more than video games...
Yes, it's true, Nicholas once got in trouble during class because he would not put his book down and listen to the teacher lecture.  Instead, he tucked the book under the desk and tried to discreetly read it.  Needless to say, it is kind of hard to hide those gigantic dinosaur books that he would always bring home!  It was also funny when mom would try to ground Nick from video games and then Nick would just go read!  I laughed because Nick was equally, if not more, entertained by his books and yet mom could not ground him from reading because it's good for you!  What a predicament to be in (for mom anyways)!

Nick and Harry Potter:
The little one and I watch Harry Potter to keep Nick's memory alive.  Nick and Harry looked so much alike they could have been twins!  Before Harry Potter movies even came out Nick devoured the books (in 3rd grade no less!) and he loved the world of Hogwarts.  When the movies came out...well, Nick was smitten!  He LOVED all that was magical...he even wanted to be in a science related magic club at his school...to be like Harry...

It's been three years, I still miss you Nick.
Love,
Your Big Sis-Sis
